President's Message
I know it has been a few weeks already since our AGM in February but I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the delegates and branches who took the time to attend and get an update on our operations for the year. In these past challenging months with limited ways to fundraise, I especially want to thank all those individuals and branches who donated this year as well as those who took part in the online auction. We raised over $10,000.00, well done!
I definitely want to thank our Central Office Staff for all the work that went into putting a virtual meeting with over 150 delegates as well as a number of presenters together. It went extremely well!
I would also like to thank the Board of Directors as it has been over a year since we have had a face to face meeting, but we have been able to utilize the technologies available to continue to do business and in the process save the SWF a substantial amount of money.
It was great to see the Minister of Environment, Mr. Warren Kaeding take time to address our AGM. That was very much appreciated and we look forward to working with Minister Kaeding and his staff. It was also good to see we were still able to have some presentations from the Ministry. I am sure we all look forward to the spring Regionals, which will be virtual, and seeing updates and presentations from the Ministry of Environment. As we work with and learn to embrace these new ways of doing business and communicating there is the potential to continue to host our Regional Meetings virtually, giving more people the opportunity to participate and save on expenses, milage and time.
All in all, the past year as well as our AGM went very well and has left the SWF in great shape. We must continue to work hard on all programs as some effects of 2020 will not be realized till this coming year, so as we have done in the past we rely on our incredible Members and Staff to keep the SWF the great organization it is!
Finally, I would like to take the chance to thank everyone for the opportunity to represent you, the SWF, our members and branches as your president for another year. I have found my years on the board and as president to be very enjoyable, challenging, humbling, and an opportunity to help make a difference. We have such a vast wealth of experience and passion all working towards our common goal “To ensure the wildlife legacy we leave to our children surpasses that which we inherited.” I look forward to seeing you all at the Spring Regionals which I will make every effort to attend all 6, and very much hope to see all of you who can attend at our 2022 Convention in Estevan next February, which our staff is already busy planning for and I think I speak for everyone that as well as this years AGM went we look forward to seeing each other.
In closing always continue to ask “What’s in it for wildlife? “
